What is Finish?

Open source AI code assistant for VS Code

Finish used to be Continue but the project was shuttered due to the fact that the team was hired by Cursor or some other hyper-mega-global-corp. The project was trending toward open-core anyway, and seemed to focus a lot on guiding people to the frontier models.
Finish is not like that.
We forked the project and are focused on building and maintaining the AI agent client for self-hosted agentic usage. In fact, the project is being maintained by a Qwen 3.6 27B model that runs on a dual RTX 5060 Ti system. It is all self-hosted and local.
So far we have our first release, and it has updated the software to Node 24, with more updates to come.
We have no investors, and we don't want any. There is no IPO.
The codebase is licensed under Apache 2.0. It is free and open source software.
